Community and home visits: Providing care in comfort

At Coorparoo Podiatry Centre we understand the importance of providing podiatry care within the community as we have now been servicing our local community for more than 40 years from our Coorparoo clinic. However, for patients unable to travel into our clinic, we are now offering home visit services once a week where one of our friendly podiatrists can come and visit you in the comfort of your own home. This service is available for patients residing within the local suburbs surrounding Coorparoo.

There are a range of different concerns that can be treated in a home visit consultation. General nail care can be provided for those struggling to reach down to toes or just needing maintenance of nails that may be difficult to cut, including thickened, fungal or ingrown toenails. We are also able to help with skin care including corn and callous removal, as well as cracked heels that may need a tidy up. For patients with diabetes, we can also provide different services to ensure adequate diabetic foot health. This can include help through general care, nail and callous removal, wound care, numbness in feet, as well as neurological and vascular lower limb assessments. We also carry a range of devices and materials that may be needed for offloading painful areas of the foot in cases of chronic foot pain including bunions, sore heels, arch pain etc. Even if there are no current foot concerns and you would just like a general foot check or some footwear advice, we are more than happy to answer your questions!

Coorparoo Podiatry Home Visits

There are some important considerations to keep in mind when determining whether a home visit consultation will be suitable. A recliner chair/elevated surface where the foot can rest is essential – if either of these options are not available, please advise the podiatrist so that we can organise the correct equipment to bring along. Additionally, adequate space and lighting in the treating room will ensure the best possible care on the day. It is also requested that we are advised of any pets in the household as they may need to be kept out of the room during the consultation for the safety of the visiting podiatrist and any pets. Furthermore, any details regarding special considerations with parking, unit accessibility etc. should be shared prior to your first visit.
